I would just like to really quick, go over what my subject is and the questions I have regarding it, for my analysis project. Not only would this be important when deciding how I want to research my subject, but I also may have changed my questions and subject just a bit.

Firstly, while I still want animation to be the core of my subject, I’m afriad I was exactly specific enough with what part of my subject I wanted to look at. To be clearer, I wanted to look at the hand that AI has had within animation as a whole. I was told it would be good to have a claim to go off of, which for me would be ‘AI has been ruining animation for the past 5 years’. I think my question goes off this claim, such as ‘How has AI effected animation in the last couple of years?’. Specifically with this question, I hoping to center my project around this, similar to how ‘rose visual methodologies’ mentioned that the constituent part usually appear to be as many things, including “A research question which explains what the project is trying to do.”, which for me, is to see how AI has changed animation.

As far as research goes for a topic like this, it could go in a few different directions. I think the first part of my research should no doubtably involves 2 parts, that’s having some sort of conformation that the claim is true, at least to a certain scale, and how much content, the is considered under animation, is made using AI, and to what degree is it interpreted in the process of making animation. Gathering information on whether or not people believe AI is ruining animation as an art form is fairly straight forward. The most effective method that I could think of is some sort of public survey, allaying anyone to participate with complete animosity. One thing I would want to do however is firmly state what I mean by animation, as last week, I was at a bit of a wall when I simply stated ‘animation’, since it could mean many things to different people. For the sake of this analysis, I would want to be as particular as possible to eliminate any sort of confusion.

When it comes to observing what animated content is ai generated and which isn’t, I also have a fairly simple approach to this. Since the scope of this issue is something that’s been around for at least the past 5 years, this would be most seen and prevalent on the internet. Therefore, I would want to look at what’s most popular on websites/apps like Youtube, Twitter, Tumblr, and any other popular video sharing platforms.

Another thing I would want to look into and point out is what I mean when I say ‘AI’ in regards of my subject. I will mostly be focusing on AI generated technology, similarly to software like ChatGPT. Furthermore, if possible, I would like to compare it to more establish software that is far more widely accepted like CGI.
